A Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that gives AI assistants (like Claude) powerful tools to read, search, and analyze your local codebase — including AI-powered code analysis via Google Gemini.

Prerequisites

Node.js 18+
A Google AI Studio API key (for analyze_code)

Getting Started

# 1. Clone the repo
git clone https://github.com/your-username/dev-assistant-mcp.git
cd dev-assistant-mcp

# 2. Install dependencies
npm install

# 3. Configure environment
cp .env.example .env
# Edit .env and add your GEMINI_API_KEY

# 4. Build
npm run build

# 5. Start the server
npm start

Development

# Run in dev mode with ts-node (no build step needed)
npm run dev

Connecting to Claude (or other MCP clients)

Add the server to your MCP client config. For example in Claude Desktop's claude_desktop_config.json:
